Consultation and Evaluations:
The first step in considering training is to have a consultation/evaluation appointment. I come to your home, meet the family and dog(s) and sit down to evaluate the dog and situation and to discuss the options available. We are not a one size fits all program, every dog is unique as is every home. It is also a bit of a two way interview for the family and I to meet each other and get a feel for one another. This is not a hands on training session, but we will offer much verbal advice and I will do a bit of handling of your dog as a part of the evaluation process. I can’t evaluate your dog over a phone call inquiry and you can’t get a good feeling for who I am that way either.
Our base rate* for a Consultation – Evaluation appt. is $125.00 (for 1.5 hour in person consult) and for us to come to you we work in a circumference from our home-office (maximum of 20 minute drive time). A modest additional rate (for extra drive time) is added to those beyond 20 minute drive distance.
If you decide to train with DogStar within 72 hours of the consultation appointment, DogStar will give you 50% credit for the Consultation fee towards your training costs. This only applies to our Accelerated Program and to Basic and Advanced Obedience when paid in full for 10 and 8 session programs, respectively. This does not apply to the Puppy Education program because there is no separate consultation prior to the first appointment/lesson. For more specifics on the Puppy Education program please go to that page.
It also does not apply to any Behavior Modification training program, (no discounts will be applied to any Behavior Modification

*In many cases (not all) we can do a consultation at a park local to DogStar so for those beyond our base rate area
if they will do the drive time they can save any additional fee above the base rate.
